Highway Patrol spotted the man's car and tried to pull him over. The man was shot moments later.
Fresno police are investigation the incident and have not released details on what led to the shooting.
C.P.R. was performed on the man but he later died.

OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING UPDATE (Police Chief Jerry Dyer Press Release - Edited)
Fresno Police Investigating Shooting with CHP Officers
This morning (1/29) at 1:40 AM, a female was driving home from work in Southeast Fresno and called Fresno Police Dispatch via 911 on a cell phone, as a male suspect tried to force her car off the road. Officers were dispatched to the location as the victim tried to evade the suspect and tell the dispatcher her location and direction. The suspect was known to the victim, as they had a prior relationship. As the caller drove north on Chestnut, the dispatcher broadcasted the information.
Two CHP officers in a marked vehicle were in the area and monitored the broadcast via their in-car scanner. The CHP officers observed the vehicles traveling northbound on Chestnut and made an enforcement stop.
The suspect immediately exited his vehicle, charged towards the officers, yelling and refused to obey the commands given by officers. Movements made by the suspect while refusing to obey commands led the officers to believe the suspect was armed and preparing to attack. Both CHP officers fired their handguns at the suspect who was struck in the upper body. Officers provided first aid until emergency medical personnel arrived and the suspect was taken to CRMC where he was pronounced deceased at 02:19 AM.
No weapon was recovered, the suspect was found to be unarmed.
Due to this incident occurring in the city of Fresno, the Fresno Police Department will conduct the criminal investigation in concurrence with the Fresno County District Attorney's parallel investigation.
