Class at University High School continues without a very popular music teacher ... Jonathan Malcolm.
According to a court affidavit ... High School Principal James Bushman called police last Tuesday ... suspecting Malcolm and one of his female students were having an inappropriate, sexual relationship. Investigators stated in the affidavit that Malcolm obtained the girl's cell phone number in November and started sending her text messages:
In the beginning, [the text messaging] was only 3 to 4 times a week, then it increased to several times daily. The messages were not school related, and were becoming more sexually suggestive.
At a press conference last week the school's principal Doctor Bushman declined to say much about the case. But the affidavit stated ... Malcolm also emailed lewd pictures to the female student. The victim later agreed to help investigators and staged a phone call between herself and her teacher. The call was recorded. Investigators claim:
Suspect Malcolm asked the victim if his name was on the e-mail that he had sent containing the two photos. She replied that they did not. Suspect Malcolm stated that if someone found out about the photos, then he would be, 'Dead in the water.
Malcolm's Fowler home was searched. Campus police seized two dozen items including his laptop, cell phone and camera. The former teacher and his family have repeatedly declined to comment about these allegations.
University High School's Board dismissed Malcolm from teaching. Once again, the DA's office has not filed charges.
