City of Fresno Budget Cutbacks

February 4, 2009 12:00:00 AM PST
The City of Fresno is being forced to make cuts. Revenue is expected to drop next year by more than $11-million dollars. To save cash, Mayor Ashley Swearengin is asking every department to trim four-percent from its budget.

"People are being very creative in coming up with some ideas to find some efficiencies and also trim some fat from different places so that we can get through this without overall impact to services," said Swearengin.

Some possibilities include cutting temporary workers. Fresno city leaders plan to have more specifics, next week.
