CA Budget Negotiations Goes Behind Closed Doors

February 4, 2009 12:00:00 AM PST
The governor and legislative leaders are privately negotiating a budget deal to close the state's $42-billion dollar deficit. Leaders are said to be keeping negotiations private to avoid scrutiny from state interest groups. Meanwhile the first day of furloughs for state workers is set to begin this Friday.

If no budget is passed by then many state offices will reduce their hours and close two Fridays a month.
