Investigators say when they arrived at the home on Le Grand Road near Plainsburg Road they found a man and a woman on the kitchen floor.
Family friends have identified them as Charlotte and Charlie Dixon. Charlotte Dixon once served as a Plainsburg school board member and Charlie Dixon worked for Merced County Waste Management before he retired.
Both grew up in Plainsburg and were well known in the small community. Sheriff's investigators say they are not looking for any suspects at this time. The Merced County Coroner will perform an autopsy to determine if the couple died in a murder suicide.
