Death of a 16-Yr-Old Fresno Girl ... Murder?

Fresno, CA, USA Brittney's family is still coming to terms with her final moments. They say she was left dead in an abandoned home for two days before police were called out on an anonymous tip. According to court records she was sexually assaulted by several young men before she died.

A memorial is growing outside the Central Fresno home where Brittney Lively died. Less than a mile away, family members tried to remember good times as they prepared to bury the 16 year old.

Brittney's Cousin Sonia Munoz said, "She liked her music and then just being with her cousins and spending time with everybody and laughing and joking around and playing."

Court records show Brittney went to a vacant home with four young men late last month to drink a bottle of Vodka. What happened after that is unclear. Records show Brittney had too much to drink and passed out. According to a search warrant an adult and two juveniles told investigators they had sex with her prior to her death. One even took photos with his cell phone. Family members say the circumstances are too disturbing to comprehend. Arrests can't come soon enough.

Brittney's Uncle Joe Garcia said, "They are going to end up paying for what they did things that they did. They won't tell us but we know more or less in our minds something happened pretty bad."

Police are not saying much, including why there was a large amount of blood at the crime scene. The case is being investigated as a suspicious death. Toxicology reports are pending. Brittney's relatives say their heartache should serve as a reminder for every parent of the importance of keeping tabs on your teenager at all times.

"Pay attention to what your children are doing. And always ask questions about where they are going to be and who they are going to be with. Because you never know, you never know that may be the last time you see them," said Munoz.

At this point no arrests have been made. The coroner has not determined a cause of death. Brittney will be laid to rest Thursday morning.
