High Winds and Dust Storms Expected in the Valley

It could be a dangerous day to drive in the Central Valley as high winds are expected to create dust storms.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A rare dust storm warning starts in about an hour and is scheduled to last until tomorrow. It could bring zero visibility to many valley locations.

Cal-Fire sent four engines to the Mendota-Firebaugh area where weather conditions are dangerous today. Firefighters with Cal-Fire are worried the wind could start a wildfire because conditions out there are so dry.

They are also ready in case the expected dust storm causes a major pileup on Interstate 5.
