Fresno PD Evacuation

February 23, 2009 12:00:00 AM PST
A fire alarm forced workers out of Fresno's Police headquarters Sunday afternoon.About two-dozen employees were evacuated after smoke was seen billowing from a computer room near the communications center.

Fire crews searched the building using thermal imaging devices, but no fire was detected. During the investigation, 911 calls were transferred to another building. Officials tell Action News no calls were missed.

"Obviously, you're going to lose a little bit in transition time, but we did not drop radio communications or 911 services," said Tom Rowe with the Fresno Police Department.

Firefighters still don't know why the alarm went off. They said the smoke may have been coming from their boiler system.
