Just before 5am Fresno State announced power has been restored to the Madden Library and Kremen Education Building where classes will be held as usual today.

Electricity was turned off at most of the buildings on campus except for the university dorms, Save Mart Center, and some sports fields while the problem was being investigated.

The outage started around Sunday evening, and campus facility crews have been working since then to fix the problem.

Monday, 75 classes were canceled at the Kremen Education Building, the Satellite Student Union, part of the library, and the Smitcamp Alumni House. "This is all 1950's original switchgear that came with the campus. This was the first thing installed so dealing with old antiquated equipment," said University Facilities Manager Gary Wilson.

Even though power to Kremen and The Madden Library has now been restored, the other two buildings; the Smittcamp Alumni House and the Satellite Student Union will remain in the dark the rest of the week.

Students should check their email for updates.
