Los Angeles police say a suicidal woman armed with a handgun has barricaded herself in a house in the Verdugo Mountains in a standoff with officers and SWAT negotiators for more than 16 hours. No injuries have been reported.

Sgt. Ronnie Crump says the unidentified woman called 911 Thursday evening threatening to kill herself and officers rushed to the home on La Tuna Canyon Road.

Officer Rosario Herrera says officers heard shots from inside the location and SWAT officers were brought to the scene.

Police say La Tuna Canyon Road will remain shut down in both directions near Interstate 210.
