Huge Teen Party under Investigation

The Fresno Fire Department is investigating whether fire codes were violated at the site of a huge teen party over the weekend and the party's organizer could also face fines for operating without a conditional use permit.Exclusion Action News video showed the chaos in the streets after Fresno Police responded a building on Fresno near Belmont to investigate a shooting. When they got there, they were shocked to find up to a thousand teens spilling onto the streets. "Everybody said there were gunshots and everybody started running to the front and see what happened so I ran to the front," said a 14 year old boy who didn't want to be identified.

Fresno Fire Department investigators found out about the party over the weekend and say they were immediately alarmed because of the crowd's size. Police say based on the building's size, it should have only held 179 people. "What's most troubling to me from a fire perspective is the imminent danger; that many people were put into such as overcrowding, inappropriate exits," said Deputy Fire Marshal Don MacAlpine.

Police said they found 100 small bags of marijuana and the building smelled like people were smoking inside. At least one person is facing charges of resisting arrest stemming from the chaos in the streets.
