Downtown Fresno Businesses to Help with Improvements

March 18, 2009 12:00:00 AM PDT
The Fresno City Council has approved a plan allowing downtown business owners to pool their money to help make improvements. The council has agreed to create a property-based improvement district, or P-Bid.

Downtown property owners who join the P-Bid would pay an assessment fee that would go to an improvement fund. Property owners would then decide how that money is spent, whether it should go for security, signage or even parking improvements.

The P-Bid is expected to generate between $250,000 to $750,000 dollars every year.
