California GOP Assemblyman Resigns County Post

LOS ANGELES (AP) Assemblyman Anthony Adams of Hesperia told The Associated Press on Friday that he is resigning as chairman of the San Bernardino County Republican Party. He informed party leaders Thursday night.

Adams says the party was concerned that his vote for the budget compromise "would be a distraction from the county moving forward on its agenda."

Last month, the California Republican Party voted to deny funding for the 2010 election cycle to Adams and five other GOP lawmakers who voted for the budget package.

Upland City Councilman Ken Willis will take over as chairman of the San Bernardino County GOP.
