His black car then drifted back into the northbound lanes and was hit again.
Several other cars then slammed into each other trying to avoid all the wreckage.
Two people were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The man who triggered the crash died at the scene.
The northbound lanes were shut down for about an hour.
