AT&T Union Contract Negotiations

April 5, 2009 12:00:00 AM PDT
Union employees are still showing up for work at AT&T after a midnight deadline passed for a new contract agreement.Workers picketed outside many AT&T buildings, like this one in Milwaukee. And their union said they could go on strike at any time.

They said job security and health care are still holding up talks on new contracts to replace old ones that expired at midnight.

The company wants workers and retirees to pay more for their health care, which it said costs more than five billion dollars a year.

23,000 of the workers are in the California and Nevada division.
