A lockdown at a South Los Angeles high school has been lifted as police continue to search for a 17-year-old man suspected of shooting a 16-year-old male student in front of the school. Los Angeles police Sgt. Ronnie Crump says there is an ongoing investigation Monday in the area of Locke Senior High School but the school is no longer shut down.

Police say officers responded at 7:54 a.m. to reports that the suspect walked up to the student in front of the school, shot him in the upper body and then fled.

Crump says the victim was taken by ambulance to a hospital and is in stable but critical condition.
