New information is coming out about the woman accused of murdering Sandra Cantu. ABC News has learned in the days following the 8-year-old's disappearance, Melissa Huckaby was admitted to a local hospital after a suicide attempt.

She has had at least two prior relationships with men she claimed abused her. In divorce papers, she accused her ex-husband of child abduction domestic violence. He adamantly denies the charges.

In an exclusive interview on Good Morning America, Johnny Huckaby said when they were together his ex-wife was depressed and taking medication; but said she was a good mom to their daughter, and a care free and non-violent person.

They separated in 2003 and said he didn't recognize the woman in the courtroom this week

A public memorial for Cantu was held Friday in Tracy. Johnny Huckabee said his daughter is in a safe place and doesn't know about the charges against her mother.

Melissa Huckaby has not spoken publicly since her arrest. She remains in isolation at the San Joaquin County Jail.
