Safety Rally At Park

April 18, 2009 12:00:00 AM PDT
A Fresno park usually pitch black by night time, was glowing Friday night in a rally for safety.About 100 children and parents brought flashlights to Lafayette Park near Manchester Center to demonstrate how dark the park really is at night.

The event was organized by members of the Fresno Acorn Chapter. They said the lack of lighting at the park makes it dangerous for children to play.

Organizers of tonight's rally said they're working with Fresno Police and the Parks and Recreation Department to build more lights on the baseball field.

The parks department was not at the rally Friday night.
