The social worker is in the Merced County jail, facing a variety of charges for her allegedly unlawful relationship with the 14 year old boy she was supposed to be caring for.
Katie Albertson said, "Merced County's Social Services Agency received a phone call on the Child Abuse Hotline that the abuse was occurring at the house in Delhi."
Tom MacKenzie of the Merced County Sherriff's Office said, "So far it appears the relationship took place at her home in Merced. He was a habitual runaway, missing for weeks and months at a time. It's believed he was staying at her house."
But other residents of the home in Delhi were apparently aware of the relationship.
Tom MacKenzie:"That's how we became aware of it. Other kids in the house were talking about it, and an employee heard them and called Child Protective Services."
The boy is originally from the Bay Area. He was placed at the home in Delhi by Santa Clara County Authorities.
He is now at an undisclosed location. His alleged abuser is in the Merced County Jail. Bail has been set at $300,000.
