Former Fresno Deputy Corner Sentenced

Fresno, CA /*Joseph Tiger*/ plead guilty to stealing an i-phone and ring from a man who died at this Northeast Fresno home.

It happened in 2008 when Tiger was investigating the man's death ... prosecutors also believe he stole personal belongs from another deceased victim, 25-year-old Joseph Sheridan.

Sheridan's mother gave an emotional statement at Tiger's sentencing on Friday.

31-year-old Tiger worked at the Fresno County Coroner's Office for a dozen years.

The judge said Tiger violated the public's trust. He sentenced Tiger to six months in jail and five years probation.

Tiger said, "My mom always told me that you are only as good as your name." And Tiger said he's ruined his own name.

He returns to court on Monday to begin serving time in jail.
