60-acre fire burns east of San Diego

JAMUL, Calif. (AP) California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection spokeswoman Roxanne Provaznik (pro-VAZ-nik) says the fire is up to 60 acres in the Willow Glen area, near Jamul.

Provaznik says the fire is spreading at a moderate rate toward homes. About 300 firefighters are working the fire, which is being fanned by a mild west wind.

Jamul is a community of about 6,000 about 20 miles east of downtown San Diego.

Sheriff's officials say it's too early to estimate the number of people affected.
