Family and friends were devastated over the death of a young man killed at a party this weekend in Fresno County. 20-year-old Marcos Hernandez died after he was shot in the upper body.Family members said Marcos Hernandez was studying criminology at Fresno City College. His death has been more upsetting because of the hundreds who attended that party but few are helping provide concrete information to solve the case.

Washing cars to pay for a funeral, that's how friends and family of Marcos Hernandez spent Memorial Day. "He had a lot of friends, everybody loved him. Like if anyone wanted to start something with him, he'd be the one to just laugh it off. He'd be laughing it off because he's better than that," said Marcos' cousin Elizabeth Avila.

Detectives said a brief confrontation between Hernandez and another man ended after the suspect pulled out a gun outside of a barn.

Jessica Garcia is the victim's girlfriend. She was at the party and says everyone was having a great time until then. "He was a good boyfriend, he was a good friend. It shouldn't have happened to him and I want anyone who was there at the party to please, do not be scared, contact the sheriff's and let them know anything that you guys know."

Red cups that once contained beer from the 5 kegs still litter the barn. The party advertised all over MySpace and via text messaging described the gathering as a birthday celebration.

Jessica said she and Hernandez were leaving when he let go of her hand and less than a minute later she saw the sparks from the gun. "So I turned around and I was looking for him and I saw him and that's whenever I saw him the shooting and he just fell and I ran to him to see if he was okay."

He was not okay, but managed to hang on until help arrived.

Jessica only saw the suspect from behind as he ran away, but she knows other people there know who he is and what went wrong.

Now detectives have managed to track down many of the partygoers, several were barely teenagers. Sheriff's still want the name of the suspect, who he was with and the car he got away in.

If you have any information, please call the Fresno County Sheriff's Office.
