Hit A Cat And I'll Hit Your Kid

A Lodi woman created controversy over the sign she posted after someone ran over her cat. "Hit a cat and I'll hit your kid--It's very shocking and disturbing.", said a Tina Teixeira.

Tina Teixeira says she put up the sign to get speeding drivers pay attention and slow down.

Last week, her cat was killed right in front of her home, and the driver didn't stop after the accident.

Teixeira says her sign is not meant to threaten kids, but was a last resort because no one was listening.

Tina Teixeira said, "I stood out here and yelled at people slow down, stay out of the bike lane and people were just like: you nut."

Neighbors agree the problem needs attention, especially since there is a school down the street. Because of the controversy, Tina put up a new sign, to send a message to the person who hit her cat.

It says, "May god have mercy on your souls for taking any life."
