Candle Light Vigil in Honor of 3 Clovis Girls Who Died

May 26, 2009 12:00:00 AM PDT
Students at three Clovis schools will return to class Tuesday with three of their classmates missing. Monday night hundreds of people showed up to remember the three girls who lost their lives over the weekend.Monday, family and friends left candles and photos to remember the three hook sisters, and their father who were taken too soon.

In near silence, hundreds of people walked from Clovis High School to the Hook's family home. Shedding tears and singing songs, they mourned the sudden loss of 9-year-old Mackenzie, 12-year-old Rachel and 15-year old Kaitlyn.

"It's really scary to know that we won't see her anymore and its gonna be real tough to get through," said Kaitlyn's friend Alec Blackwell.

The three sisters, along with their father, Luther Hook, died Friday night in a plane crash near Fallon, Nevada. The sisters were visiting their dad for the weekend, a trip they used to take at least twice a month. "I could hardly believe it that their lives had been cut so short when they had so much to offer, and so much to give and I don't know what I'm going to do now," said mother Benda Hook.

Brenda Hook last saw her daughters Friday morning, before they left for school. "All three of them were just such wonderful children, and I was so blessed to have had them in my life."

Brenda showed us pictures of the three girls. She said Kaitlyn would make her coffee in the morning, Rachel would always sing and her youngest daughter, Mackenzie would come into her room every morning, while she was getting ready for work.

Brenda said words cannot describe the pain she's going through. But she thanks the entire community for their outpouring of support; something she says, she couldn't live without. "Everybody's been so sweet and loving and supportive and it means a lot to try and keep me sane cause sometimes I feel like I'm going to lose it because it's so difficult to lose three beautiful, wonderful children all at once."

Funeral arrangements are still pending. There is one set for this Thursday in Fallon, Nevada. A service is being planned in Clovis for sometime next week.
