Officers could see the suspect on the phone, but he wasn't talking to them. He did not communicate at all with the officers outside, and there was nobody else in the house.
According to Sgt. Miller, there was no present danger to the community at large, and escalating the situation could have possibly led to a deadly confrontation. So, officers decided to de-escalate the situation and leave the area about 1:45 a.m..
The suspect will be charged for negligent discharge of a firearm and a probation violation. There is also an unrelated warrant for his arrest. Officers hope that relatives will get him to turn himself in, or that they can catch him at some later date.
