Fresno Police May Give Up a Pay Raise

June 8, 2009 12:00:00 AM PDT
After discussions with city leaders, the head of the Police Union said officers may be willing to go without a raise, if the city doesn't go through with a plan to demote ten members of the department.Fresno's Police Chief Jerry Dyer applauds the offer. "The fact they are willing to come forth and to have these informal discussions and to come to a tentative agreement really speaks highly of the concern they have for our community."

Union leaders said the members appear willing to give up the two percent raise, but it will be up to the police officers to decide. They're expected to vote on the idea next week.
