June 11, 2009 12:00:00 AM PDT
Fire engulfed a Southern California mobile home where a man barricaded himself and fired gunshots after Ventura County sheriff's deputies came to serve an eviction notice. Ventura County Sheriff Capt. Patti Salas said deputies attempted to serve the notice Thursday afternoon at the Lamplighter Mobile Home Park in Camarillo. A sheriff's SWAT team and negotiators tried to persuade the man to surrender.

The fire began blazing around 4 p.m.

Firefighters doused the blaze shortly before 5 p.m. It was not known if the occupant was still inside the mobile home.
