Two Arrested in Fire Protection Scam in Tulare Co.

June 15, 2009 10:45:43 PM PDT
Two people have been arrested ... including a South Valley native for an alleged scam involving firefighting equipment.Investigators in Tulare County say Danny Williams of Camarillo, and Ken Speck of Exeter provided substandard and faulty fire protection systems to more than 30 Tulare County businesses.

Williams runs a company called "American Fire Protection". He and Speck allegedly wore uniforms with patches similar to those worn by fire department staff, giving the impression that they were from the fire department.

They're also accused of posing as fire marshals and threatening to close down businesses if not allowed to do an inspection and make subsequent repairs.
