Valley Olympian Andy finch goes to the boards for his dad on this father's day weekend as their family celebrates freedom.Earlier this week, Finch was in the courtroom as a judge exonerated his father, Cliff, on the main charges related to his shootout with Fresno police almost two years ago. Its obvious Cliff Finch and his son Andy share a very special bond. And this father's day, they say it's stronger than ever, as they move forward with this ongoing court battle.

With a smile on his face and family by his side, Cliff Finch is making the most of this father's day weekend. "Well, smiling is easier than frowning, and it's just better than the alternative."

Finch spent Saturday night at the New Covenant Church in Northeast Fresno. He was there supporting his son, Andy Finch, an Olympic snowboarder who was speaking at a special snow and skateboarding event. "I'm stoked to be in Fresno here for father's day weekend"

Last week, it was Andy supporting his dad, in court. Cliff Finch is accused of leading Fresno Police on a wild chase back in September of 2007, which ended in a shootout with Fresno Police.

After almost a week of preliminary hearings, a judge dropped the attempted murder charges. "Just over this last weekend, the judge's ruling, to me, its god showing us mercy and our faith just paying off and our faith remains in Christ through this whole thing."

"Real positive news with the court thing we got going and you know as far as how I feel, we keep working at it, trying to get better."

Both father and son say their faith is crucial, especially as the trial continues on.

For now though, they're enjoying each other's company, trying to remember what this father's day weekend is really about.

"To be able to lose all that stuff and keep his chin up, hats off to my dad for that and he's still just keeping his chin up and is still being a great influence to people."

Cliff Finch still faces three charges including assault with a firearm on an officer. He will be back in court June 30th. As for what his father's day plans are, his son Andy says it's still a surprise.
