Jesse James Hollywood Convicted of Murder, Kidnap

July 8, 2009 5:23:43 PM PDT
A jury has convicted Jesse James Hollywood of the August 2000 kidnapping and murder of 15-year-old Nicholas Markowitz.Prosecutors say Hollywood orchestrated the kidnapping and eventual killing of Markowitz because the teen's half brother owed a drug debt. Hollywood also had suspected the brother, Ben, of vandalizing and busting out the windows of his valley home.

Nicholas was taken to Santa Barbara and held for several days before he was shot and buried in a shallow grave.

The movie "Alpha Dog" was inspired by the case.
