Christmas in July

July 18, 2009 7:04:31 PM PDT
Many of these bikers are veterans themselves, and Saturday, they delivered supplies to their hospitalized comrades. This is the eighth annual Christmas in July motorcycle run, and organizers say they're hoping to remind people that veterans and service members need their support throughout the year, not just during the holidays.

Tom Swanson, Organizer said, "Right now its 120-something degrees in Iraq and Afghanistan and they don't have a chance to go to the beach, they're in full ammo gear. Our troops are forgotten. When they come home they don't have the items, the services they may need, so we bring in their coffers and bring them in the middle of the year."

The bikers braved the heat to deliver blankets, hygiene items, and money to the V.A. Hospital.

They said they chose the month of July because it symbolizes a patriotic time, just weeks after the July fourth holiday.
