Feinstein fights gun law amendment

The bill's sponsor, South Dakota republican John Thune, calls it a "crime prevention measure." It includes a provision requiring owners to follow the gun laws of the state they are visiting. But, Senator Feinstein called the amendment a major violation of states' rights.

"I believe it's going to lead to more weapons and more violence on the streets of our nation. And, of course, if it's successful, it's another step in a march to remove all common sense gun regulations from all over America," she said.

The measure is backed by the National Rifle Association and other gun rights groups. A vote is expected Wednesday.
