Kerman Murder Suspects in Court, Third Suspect on the Run

Fresno, CA /*Dawn Singh*/, the woman investigators say was driving the getaway car, walked into court with a large neck brace and cried a few times.

Investigators still haven't caught the third suspect, /*Jose Reyes*/, and court records show he may be the most dangerous.

Our courtroom camera was only allowed to record the two suspects from the neck down. Fresno County Sheriff Deputies say 34 year old Dawn Singh and 42 year old /*Leroy Johnson*/ are responsible for killing a /*Kerman*/ couple in their home last week.

Both are charged with murder, burglary and robbery. Singh, who authorities say led police on a high speed chase after the murders, has an additional charge of felony evading police. If convicted, they are crimes that come with the stiffest of sentences.

Singh's Public Defender Eric Green said, "Life without parole or death. D.A. hasn't made determination, still too early for that kind of determination."

Dawn Singh walked into court with a large neck brace and cried several times. She appeared extremely nervous.

"Apparently it was a high speed chase there was a crash she was the driver she was injured," said Green.

Singh and Johnson were appointed public defenders who asked for and got an extra 10 days before the arraignment because they did not have the police reports.

Five days after Sandra and /*Gary DeBartolo*/ were murdered in their Kerman home, the 3rd suspect 19 year old Jose Reyes, is still on the run. And his criminal records indicate he may be the most dangerous.

Last March the self professed /*Bulldog*/ Gang member was arrested and charged with domestic battery and having a dangerous weapon. Through a plea deal, he got six months probation, and ordered into a 12 week anger management class.

Then, on July 19th the CHP says Reyes led them on a chase through Fresno with a stolen car. The next day he was released from jail because of overcrowding. On July 22nd the DeBartolo's were murdered.

Bail for both Singh and Johnson is set at just over a million dollars each. Their next court date is August 6th.

The Fresno County Coroner still hasn't released the cause of death for the DeBartolo's.

Kerman Police or sheriff deputies refuse to say anything more about this case, even the whereabouts of the DeBartolo's son.
