Dinuba Police Review Chase Policy

August 10, 2009 12:00:00 AM PDT
Police departments all have their own policies when it comes to continuing high speed chases. Dinuba police say they're now reviewing their policy. After a series of chases and accidents five years ago, Clovis Police and the California Highway Patrol both clarified their chase policies. They said each case is different and their decision is based on weather conditions, and how dangerous the criminal they're chasing may be.

They will chase people for minor traffic violations under the right circumstances. But if the risks outweigh the gains, they say they'll call off a chase.

Fresno Police said they won't chase people for minor traffic trouble or for misdemeanors.
