Santa Maria Fire brings Smoke to the Valley

August 11, 2009 12:00:00 AM PDT
Authorities in Santa Barbara County have issued an evacuation warning for more than a dozen ranches in the path of a wildfire, but officials say there's no imminent threat to their homes. Firefighters have been battling the La Brea Wildfire near Santa Maria for four days. It grew by more than 400 acres Monday bringing the total to over 15,000 acres burned.

Officials aren't sure what sparked the fire.

The wildfire is sending smoke into the Valley. If you've stepped outside Tuesday, you've probably noticed the thick smog in the air. Of course, with the air being with way it is, you'll want to limit your outdoor activity.
