No Cash for Clunkers

Fresno, CA The incentives have generated close to a half-million car sales. Future Ford of Clovis has 84 clunkers in their back lot. But they have yet to be reimbursed for any of them.

The federal government has promised to pay dealers for their clunkers. But, the feds say at this point, it looks like "Cash for Clunkers" will run out of money within the next few days.

James Cagle said, "It got so big, so fast, it overwhelmed not only the dealers, but the U.S. government in particular and they just simply didn't have enough people to handle all the transactions coming in much sooner than they thought they would."

Valley dealers we spoke with, including future ford, say they will offer the program through the close of business Sunday.

They say processing the paperwork takes a long time, so they want to make sure they have everything in order to make sure they'll get paid back by the government.
