Hill said, "The guy that is our starting quarterback to start the season is Ryan Colburn and we're very excited about that decision."

Four days before the season opener against UC Davis ... Bulldog Head Coach Pat Hill has gone with veteran leadership over raw ability ... choosing junior Ryan Colburn over true freshman and four star recruit Derek Carr to lead the Bulldog offense this Saturday.

Colburn said, "I feel very good about it. I'm very honored to be in this position. I feel very good ... and just excited."

"We made a decision on the quarterback late last night. We had meetings with all three of them and I feel really good about the decision," said Hill.

Coach Hill says he made the decision based on three key factors: leadership abilities ... deep-ball accuracy ... and game management. While it was a tough decision ... Hill feels confident he found his man.

"We're very excited about our quarterback situation. I think we've got two very good quarterbacks and we decided at this time Ryan had won the job," said Hill.

Derek Carr will start out the year as the backup ... and redshirt freshman Ebahn Feathers could still see action in special formations.
