Bulldog Athletics Feels the Budget Strain

Fresno, CA Due to education budget cuts throughout the country, the Fresno State Athletic Department has been forced to cut back as well. That means this season the Bulldog football team is breaking tradition and will not stay in a local hotel the night before home games

"I've never been at a school before, never even in my years in the 80's here at Fresno State, we didn't… we stayed in hotels. I think that was always good," said Coach Pat Hill

They will also ride a bus to the University of Nevada games, after flying in years past.

Bulldog players said they'll miss the hotel stays and short flights, but they are also understanding of the state's economy woes.

"It's kinda sad that I'm not going to be able to enjoy the experience of the hotel knowing it's my senior year. But it's not that bad. I'm okay with it," said Bulldog's Wide Receiver Marlon Moore.

"Usually when we're in a hotel room we're just sitting around all day. This time we're going to be in our own environment; in our rooms or our living rooms just resting up for the games, just taking everything easy. So it should be a really good relaxing time being at home. It shouldn't change anything," said Bulldog's Running Back Ryan Mathews.
