Rash of Craigslist Robberies in Fresno

Fresno, CA The victim, who didn't want to be identified, was selling a phone for a buddy. He met three young men in the parking lot of a drug store in Northwest Fresno. One grabbed the phone and all ran to an apartment complex across the street. He went after them and tells us what happened.

"He opened the gate as if he was gonna let me in and he pulled a gun out to my head."

ABC30: "So tell me what he said to you ..."

"He said he was gonna blow my head off and he was gonna kill me and he's not scared to do it."

ABC30: "So you thought you were going to be shot ..."

"Yeah, I was thought was done. I just asked God; I thought God if this is my time to go I'm ready."

Fortunately, this 20 year old college student's time was not up. He ran back to the store ... employees called police. Two suspects at the apartment complex were arrested. Several phones, and the gun used to take them were found.

Police Sgt. Anthony Dewell says it's a warning about dealing online.

"Just be careful with the people you make contact with on Craigslist, try and meet in a public area, try not to go out at night," said Sgt. Dewell.

It's a lesson this young man won't ever forget.

ABC30: "So you thought you really were going to die ..."

"Yes"

ABC30: "Over a cell phone ..."

"Yes."

"My Mom says I'm grounded from Craigslist."
