September 30, 2009 12:00:00 AM PDT
Attorney General and Former Governor Jerry Brown wants to sit in the governor's seat once more. Brown has filed official paperwork with the Secretary of State's office to start an exploratory committee. San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom is his only other democratic rival so far.

Brown has been hinting at a run for governor for months.

On the Republican side, three challengers are vying for their party's nomination. That includes former E-Bay CEO Meg Whitman, Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner, and former Bay Area Congressman Tom Campbell.
