Hmong Protest in Downtown Fresno

October 5, 2009 12:00:00 AM PDT
Hundreds of people from the Hmong community are rallying in downtown Fresno Monday. They're demanding an end to the federal case against twelve men accused of trying to overthrown the Laotian government. The case against the men remains despite the fact charges against General Vang Pao were dropped last month. Vang Pao is seen as the leader of the Hmong people.

During the Vietnam War, Pao and other Hmong helped out the U.S. The people who are at Monday's rally said they feel betrayed charges remain against the men despite all they've given this country.

The twelve men whose charges remain will appear in a Sacramento courtroom Monday afternoon.
