Workplace Shooting Update, Suspect Had .20 Blood Alcohol Level

Fresno, CA The suspect was drunk the morning he went on a shooting rampage. That's according to toxicology reports Action News obtained Friday afternoon.

Jim Badasci's blood alcohol content was .20 at the time of the deadly shooting, that's two and a half times the legal driving limit.

Sheriff's detectives say after a thorough investigation, they are still unclear whether Badasci targeted the victim, Ralph Wallis or if it was a random act.

The toxicology report showed Badasci did not have any drugs in his system. Detectives say they have interviewed not only witnesses but also the victim and suspect's friends and family, and still do not have a motive.

Victor Wisemer with the Fresno County Sheriff's Office said, "We really honestly don't know why he did what he did. We were hoping if anyone had any information they would let us know but we've covered as many bases as we can."

Investigators believe Badasci drove to Fresno Equipment Company after calling in sick to work and then going on a shooting spree. Witnesses say Badasci shot Wallis first before firing at heavy equipment and then turning the gun on himself.

I spoke to the victim's mother who says she retrieved her son's tools from the company where he worked as a mechanic. The victim had no drugs or alcohol in his system during the shooting
