Bay Bridge still being repaired

California News Crews have made major progress on the Bay Bridge repairs Sunday, but it's still unlikely it will reopen in time for the morning rush hour.

Caltrans held a press conference less than an hour ago and said drivers should prepare to find another way to get around town Monday.

Four days now, they've been working on repairs to the eastern section of the bridge where a cracked eye-bar was found last month.

And they got far enough to test it out, but Caltrans didn't like the results and they won't predict when the bridge can open again.

Bart Ney, Caltrans Spokesman said: "I know that's frustrating to motorists and we apologize but we don't want to make a false prediction. We want to put safety first and we want to make sure everyone feels comfortable with the repairs we have done."

Caltrans officials said when the bridge is finally fixed, they'll install monitors to let them know of any unwanted movement.
