UPDATE - Monday 11AM: The Fresno County Coroner completed the autopsy for the Mendota four-year-old found dead in a clothes dryer over the weekend. But coroner's officials aren't ready to release the results.

People in Mendota are rallying around the family of a little boy police say was killed by a teenaged neighbor. A row of candles now sits in front of the home where Alex Mercado's body was discovered Saturday afternoon.

Fresno County Sheriff's Deputies said the four year old boy wandered away from his home on Friday and was found the next day inside a clothes dryer at his neighbor's house.

Officers arrested the neighbor's 14-year-old son. His name has not been released. Deputies say he intentionally killed Alex, but have not said how the little boy died.

Neighbors said the 14-year-old's mother babysat Alex.

"It's kinda strange because this has never happened before here and we thought that someone in Mendota had stolen the baby, but we never imagined it could be the neighbor," said neighbor Gloria Martinez.

The Fresno County Sheriff's Office has not said how the boy died or why he was killed.
