The City Council is expected to vote to increase water rates at a meeting on Monday. Water is about to get more expensive in the City of Clovis, but not without some loud opposition.

The City Council is expected to vote to increase water rates at a meeting Monday night and a big crowd will be on hand to protest.

Two years ago, when a homebuilding boom was predicted, water officials decided to raise the fees to anticipate the high demand for water.

But despite slower building rates, City Officials said they still need to raise the fees by 20 percent because of the general cost to supply water.
