Water shoots into sky after main bursts in Van Nuys

VAN NUYS, Calif. Crews responded to Van Nuys Boulevard and Sherman Way at about 10:35 a.m. to reports of a water main break that caused a sinkhole.

The water main break, used to move recycled water, sent an incredible amount of water into the sky and looked as if a fire hydrant had been sheared off.

No evacuations have been ordered, but streets in the area have been shut down.

According to the DWP, crews are working to shut the water off, but it could take awhile. Crews are working carefully, shutting off gates around the pipe to prevent a water hammer.
