Missing Florida Baby Found Safe

November 5, 2009 12:00:00 AM PST
Florida authorities have found a missing baby alive under her babysitter's bed after she was reported missing on Halloween. The Washington County Sheriff said investigators found 7-month-old Shannon Dedrick Thursday morning in a box at her babysitter's home.

Police have detained the babysitter, Susan Baker, her husband and the child's mother who secretly gave the child to the baby sitter in the middle of the night.

Police say Baker asked the mother, Chrystina Lynn Mercer, on Friday if she could have custody of the baby.

Police say the baby is in good condition.

Police say Mercer brought the infant to Baker's house early Saturday, about 10 hours before she was reported missing. They also say Mercer and Baker each face several charges.
