Students accepted Fresno State president offer to study at his house

FRESNO, Calif. A group of students took up the Fresno State president's offer to let them study at his house Saturday Night because the library is closed.

The group met at the president's house for some quiet time, because the newly built Madden Library is closed on Saturdays due to budget cuts.

The offer came up earlier this week, after a meeting between president John Welty and Fresno State students.

The students met with Welty to talk about how the budget cuts were affecting them, and when one student asked where they were supposed to study, the president invited them over.

Ali Espinoza, Fresno State student said: "If you've ever been a student, you know it's easy to be distracted when you're trying to study and a quiet place is essential. "

The students are hopeful somehow the university can find a way to extend the library's hours, despite the budget cuts.

No word on whether president Welty was around while the students studied Saturday night.
