Clovis police said he crossed Shaw near Helm and got crushed by an SUV.
The driver stopped at the scene and several witnesses tried to help the man who got hit.
He was rushed To Community Regional Hospital, but his injuries were very serious and he died a little while later.
Police said he was in his 40s or 50s and they have evidence he was drinking before the accident.
