Fresno County health officials kicked off their new flu clinics Wednesday (Feb. 3, 2010) offering H1N1 and seasonal vaccinations.
The clinics, which are being held twice a week, are being held at the Fulton Mall (1221 Fulton Mall) on Mondays and Wednesdays.
There's no charge for the H1N1 vaccination. The charge for seasonal flu vaccinations is $4-dollars.
The clinics at the Fulton Mall will be held every Monday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and every Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to noon.
Clinics will be held until further notice depending on vaccine availability.
Parents should bring their child's Immunization Record (yellow card) to the clinic for both Pandemic Flu H1N1 and Seasonal Flu vaccination. Children aged 6 months through 9 years of age need two doses of H1N1 vaccine at least 28 days apart.
Persons who are covered under Medi-Cal or Medi-Care should bring these cards for Seasonal Flu vaccination.
Vaccination provides the most effective protection from Pandemic Flu H1N1 and Seasonal Flu
infection for residents and their families. Residents should continue to practice prevention
measures such as frequent hand washing, coughing into the sleeve, and staying home when sick.
Residents can also contact their health care provider or local retail pharmacies regarding the
availability of Pandemic Flu H1N1 and / or Seasonal Flu vaccination.

MARIPOSA COUNTY H1N1 FLU CLINICS
The Mariposa County Health Department has received a small shipment of H1N1 vaccine. The Health Department ordered much more, but supplies are slow in coming. More shipments are due weekly, according to the Federal and State officials.
Following CDC recommended priorities, the Mariposa County Health Department is targeting these high-risk groups:
- 1st - Caretakers of children under 6 months of age. Household members and daycare providers should call the Health Department or JCF clinic now, for appointments for this vaccine.
- 2nd - Emergency Medical and front line Health Care Workers. We need these folks on the job.
- 3rd - Pregnant women or those who will be pregnant during Flu season. AND Children and young adults ages 6 months to 24 years.
- 4th - People ages 25 through 64 with chronic medical conditions (including lung disease, asthma, heart disease [but not high blood pressure], kidney, liver, neurological or hematological diseases, diabetes, and diagnosed immune system disorders).
- 5th - All others

KING COUNTY H1N1 FLU CLINICS
All people receiving the vaccine will be required to fill out a screening/consent form, which will be available at each clinic, and is also available at any Public Health Clinic, County Library, or online at: http://www.countyofkings.com/Health/pdf/h1n1-combination-consent-form.pdf.
Parents who are unable to bring their children to be vaccinated can fill out and sign the consent form, and send it and their child with a designee to have the child vaccinated.
Parents are also encouraged to check with their physicians to see if they have the vaccine available.
Children ages 9 and under will require a second dose of the vaccine about a month after the first one.
Pneumonia can be a complication of influenza. Those persons that are not in the target population are encouraged to ask their health provider about the pneumonia vaccine. The pneumonia vaccine is also available at the Health Department at a cost of $53.
